Wednesday, January 10, 2018

MATTOON--The Lake Land College Lady Lakers basketball team currently sports three players ranking Top 10 in the nation within NJCAA Women's Basketball Division II.

Koty Crowder

Although the actual rankings shift up or down on a daily basis, at last check, Lakerball identified Koty Crowder (Charleston; Charleston High School), Jaycie Roy (Neoga; Neoga High School), and Avery Jackson (Mattoon; Mattoon High School) as ranking among the nation's best in a variety of statistical categories.

As for Crowder, a sophomore, who has been binging on three-pointers recently, she has reached a national ranking of 10th for three-pointers made with a season total of 42.

Along with her high ranking for treys, Crowder holds several other Top-100 national rankings:
  • 10th  3-point Shots Made (42)
  • 36th  Total Points (241)
  • 57th  Field Goals Made (81)
  • 77th  Assists (46)
  • 84th  Steals (31)
  • 94th  Points per Game (15.1)
  • 98th  3-point shooting percentage (35.9)

Jaycie Roy
Freshman Roy goes Top-5 nationally for her defensive rebounding, tallying 116 so far this season to rank her 4th in the country. Roy had been high in the rankings for a while, but when she pulled down a personal collegiate high 18 rebounds in her most recent game, Roy went Top-5 nationally for her work on the defensive glass.

Roy holds a few other Top-100 rankings to go along with her high DREB status:
  • 4th  Defensive Rebounds per Game (116)
  • 37th  Total Rebounds per Game (134)
  • 70th  3-point Shot Made (26)
  • 90th  Rebounds per Game (8.4)

Avery Jackson
A freshmen who was no stranger to scoring from her days at Mattoon High School, Jackson, hits the Top-5 nationally with a ranking of 4th for free throws made with 71 thus far this season at the collegiate level.

But Jackson also currently claims a second Top-10 ranking for total points made with 306.

Due the nature of daily ranking shifts, Jackson, who had held a third Top-10 national ranking at 9th for total assists with 78 has slipped a couple notches to 11th.

Note that six of Jackson's seven Top-100 rankings are Top 25 or better.

Jackson holds several Top-100 rankings along the aforementioned:
  • 4th  Free Throws Made (71)
  • 9th  Total Points (306)
  • 11th  Assists (78)
  • 16th  Free Throw Percentage (81.6)
  • 19th  Field Goals Made (106)
  • 24th  Point per Game (19.1)
  • 87th  3-point Shots Made (23)
