Lady Lakers of national note: Ambrose, Elsas, Burford, Rankin, Watson C, Beckers, Bartley, Mullen

Ryann Ambrose
The Lake Land College Lady Lakers volleyball team has several players ranking in the Top-100 of the NJCAA Volleyball Division I National Rankings, based on match statistics.

The Lady Lakers with the most Top 100 rankings is Ryann Ambrose, (Shelbyville; Shelbyville High School), a sophomore. Ambrose currently holds seven Top 100 rankings as follows: ranks 27th nationally in Kills with 157; 38th in Hitting Percentage at .321; 54th in Points per Set at 3.4; 16th in Block Assists with 46.

Three of the national rankings Ambrose holds are Top-10, ranking 6th in the country for Points, totaling 225.0 thus far this season.

Ambrose holds two Top-5 national rankings, ranking 3rd for Block Solos at 38 and 3rd for Total Blocks at 84.

Only one other Lady Lakers holds a Top-10 national ranking, freshman, Alexandra Beckers, (Mt. Pulaski; Mt. Pulaski High School). Beckers currently ranks 7th 8th in the nation in Digs Assists with a total of 475 so far this season. Beckers ranks 38th in the country in Assists per Set at 7.20.

Freshman, Kristy Burford (Bethany; Okaw Valley High School), currently claims six Top-100 national rankings. Burford's highest national ranking at the moment is a 50th in Total Attacks with 388. Burford also holds rankings of 58th in Total Blocks with 38, 66th in Block Solos with 10, 78th in Points at 145.0, 70th in Block Assists with 28, and 99th in total Kills with 108.

Ashley Bartley, (Tuscola; Tuscola High School), a freshman, currently holds a couple Top-100 national ranks, one in the Top-50, 35th in the country for total Digs with 206. Bartley ranks 80th nationally in Digs per Set at 3.49.

Freshman libero, Jannah Mullen (St. Joseph; St. Joseph-Ogden High School), holds two Top-20 rankings. Mullen's best national ranking is 13th in Digs per Set at 5.02. Mullen ranks 18th int he nation in total Digs with 241.

Another freshman, Lexi Rankin (Mattoon; Mattoon High School), claims a couple Top-50 national rankings. Rankin's highest ranking is 13th in the nation for Block Solos with 24. Rankin ranks 40th in the country for Total Blocks with 45.

Brooklyn Elsas (Lincoln; Lincoln Community High School), a freshman, currently ranks in the Top-100 in five statistical categories, her highest ranking in the Top-10 nationally at 5th in Total Attacks with 558. Elsas ranks 87th in Digs with 148, 86th in Block Solos with 8, 33rd in total Points with 184.5, and 27th in Kills, totally 157 thus far this season.

Sophomore, Claudia Watson (Shelbyville, Shelbyville High School), currently ranks 57th in the country for total Digs with 172.

Note that when a player holds a high national ranking in a volleyball statistical category, not only is it a significant individual accomplishment but oftentimes also a product of supportive team play.
