Oestreich at Canyons Complex
According to information received from the family of recent Lake Land College graduate, Emily Oestreich (Napa, CA; Vintage High School), Oestreich has verbally committed to continue her collegiate student-athletic career at the University of Illinois in Champaign, IL.

Oestreich is expected to sign a Letter of Intent in about a week.

The University of Illinois is a NCAA Division I member with an enrollment of approximately 44,000.

The University of Illinois Fighting Illini play in the 14-member Big 10 Conference.

Oestreich played softball at the NJCAA Division I level for the Lady Lakers of Lake Land College for two seasons under the guidance of head softball coach, Nic Nelson.

In each of her two seasons at Lake Land, Oestreich helped the Lady Lakers reach the NJCAA Softball Division I National Finals at Canyons Complex in St. George, UT. While at Lake Land, Oestreich's main contributions were as a starting pitcher (where she set a number of school season and career pitching records) and fielding her position.

Oestreich set Lake Land season records for wins with 32 and innings pitched with 211 1/3.

Additionally, Oestreich now owns collegiate career records at Lake Land for wins at 59, strikeouts with 550, and innings pitched with 339 2/3.

Possibly lost in the bevy of pitching records was the fact of just how tough Oestreich was in the circle at Laker Softball Field, having never lost a game over the course of two seasons, tallying 26 home field wins against no losses.

Oestreich struck out about 10 batters per seven inning game on average, home, road, and neutral fields inclusive, but struck out nearly 11.5 batters per game at Laker Softball Field. For teams visiting Lake Land, such a home field strikeouts per game average translated roughly into four offensive innings with only two outs to work with and three innings with only one out to work with.

Oestreich's ERA on the home field was lower than her overall or road-only ERA's, at 1.34 in 2017, and as a freshman in 2016, marking a 1.29.

In one of her hottest stretches, Oestreich allowed only eight hits in seven games.

As well as being home tough, Oestreich notched four no-hitters, two of which were perfect games and one a combination no-no. One of the perfect games featured 15 strikeouts out of 15 batters in an eight run rule game.

Another aspect of Oestreich's game easily overlooked was her ability to field her position, having only committed two errors in her Lake Land softball career, on in each of her two seasons.
