It's Bronze or better for Wigington and British Nationals at Euro SB Final Four in Italy

BOLLATE, ITALY--Recently graduated Lake Land College Lady Lakers third baseman, Chloe Wigington (Ascot, England), just finished up her trip to the NJCAA Softball Division I Finals in St. George, UT, and today is playing on Great Britain's women's national team in Bollate, Italy with a the guarantee of a bronze and the chance for gold at the European Softball Championships.

The British national team were forced to deal with some weather during their bid for advancement in the tournament (nothing new for Wigington after a couple seasons playing in east central Illinois), having to play three games Thursday. The Lady Brits lost a couple, 4-1 to Italy, and after a 11-4 loss to Netherlands, GB toppled Russia, 10-4, earning them tournament advancement.

On Friday, GB defeated Czech Republic, 4-1, guaranteeing at least a bronze medal after today's competition in Italy while simultaneously punching their ticket the World Championships held in the Japan in 2018.

Today's game versus Italy plays at 7:00 a.m. CDT, which translates into 2:00 p.m. Italian time.

A victory over Italy would send Wigington and GB to the finals, a night game in Italy but a noon CDT back in Illinois.

Wigington played third base for Lake Land for the last two seasons and played a role as a power-hitting pinch hitter. In Lake Land's 2016 and 2017 seasons, Wigington helped the Lady Lakers reach the National Finals in St. George, UT.

UPDATE: Italy defeats Britain, 8-1, Saturday. Wigington and GB National team will bring home the Bronze to Great Britain and and have also punched their ticket to the World Championships next year in Japan.
