Chloe Wigington at Laker Softball Field
BOLLATE, ITALY--On Friday afternoon in Italy, recent Lake Land College graduate, Chloe Wigington and the British National Softball team lost 8-1 to Italy, securing a Bronze medal at the 2018 European Women's Softball Championships.

A little over a month earlier, Wigington was across the "Big Pond," at Canyons Complex in St. George, UT, with Lake Land College, where the Lady Lakers placed fourth in the nation at the NJCAA Softball Division I Championship.

Mainly a third baseman when starting, Wigington has contributed to her teams as a role player much of the time, and her hustle and ability on Laker Softball Field no doubt illustrates what makes her a valuable asset to her British National team.

Wigington and British National Team in Italy
Out of Ascot, England, Wigington crossed the Atlantic Ocean more than once, for the 2016 and 2017 student-athlete collegiate career she accomplished at Lake Land College, and playing for her home country, Great Britain.

Just the recent trip to Utah from Illinois, over to England, and on to Italy, we're talking about eight-and-a-half thousand miles. Talk about your travel ball!

And by the way, GB has qualified for the 2018 World Championships, to be held in Chiba, Japan.

There could be players better than Wigington at a particular softball skill or hold a higher national ranking in the United States, or hold similar recognition in Great Britain, but to Lakerball's knowledge, few have earned the respect and pride from the softball communities of both nations for her contributions to their respective teams on two continents.

Congratulations to Wigington and the Lady Lakers for their fourth place finish in the United States.

Congratulations to Wigington and the British National Team for their Bronze medal in Europe.
