COLORADO SPRINGS, CO--The Lake Land College Lady Lakers softball team recently found nine of its student-athletes awarded for their academic achievements.

Sophomores, Audrey Casey (Toledo, IL; Cumberland High School), Katelyn Fisher (Mattoon, IL; Mattoon High School), Madison Boone (Shelbyville, IL; Shelbyville HS), and Samantha Valentine (Monticello, IL; Monticello High School), were selected as NJCAA All-Academic Student-Athletes.

Also selected were freshmen, Kendra Gengenbacher (Quincy, IL; Quincy Notre Dame High School), Britt Remmers (Werkendam, Netherlands), Kelly Sager (Kell, IL; Salem Community High School), Kendall Hastings (Riverside, IL; Riverside-Brookfield High School), and Hope Collier (Effingham, IL; Effingham High School).

To earn the award, a student-athlete must carry a 3.60 GPA or higher, and gains an award status as follows:
  • NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA
  • NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80 - 3.99 GPA
  • Madison Boone
  • NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60 - 3.79 GPA

Gengenbacher was named to the All Academic Student-Athlete First Team.

Casey, Remmers, Sager, and Hastings were named to the All Academic Student-Athlete Second Team.

Boone, Valentine, Fisher, and Collier were named to the All-Academic Third Team.
