FYI - Lady Warriors grab first GRAC win

INA--WAUGH GYMNASIUM--Rend Lake College’s Lady Warriors took to the James “Hummer” Waugh Gymnasium Monday night to play a make-up game against Great Rivers Athletic Conference (GRAC) foe Southwestern Illinois College.

Lady Warrior Freshman Kennedy Prince out of Rock Island led RLC scoring Monday night with 22 points as the women notched their first conference victory over visiting Southwestern Illinois College by a final of 73-58. Click on the image for a larger view.

RLC’s women came out strong, outscoring their opponents 21-15 in the first quarter and never looked back as the cruised to a 73-58 final. The Lady Warriors took every advantage, shooting 76-percent from the charity stripe and racking up 39 rebounds, 13 at the hands of sophomore Cali Carney (Benton).
Scoring was led by freshman Kennedy Prince (Rock Island) with 22. Carney contributed 12. Michaela O’Neal (Bloomington) put 16 on the scoreboard. Paetyn Hayes (Mt. Vernon) added seven. Paige Rich (Johnston City) rounded out starters with six points. Off the bench, Brianna Smith (Fort Campbell, Ky.) came up big with 10 points.
Warriors MBB fall to SWIC
RLC’s men did not fare as well against their Blue Storm rivals. Despite overcoming a double-digit deficit in the fourth quarter, the Warriors fell by a 74-69 final. That moves the guys to 12-8 on the season and drops them to .500 in the conference with a 5-5 record. They are back in action on Feb. 4th as they head to Carterville to take on John A. Logan College. Tipoff is slated for 3 p.m.
