MATTOON--Lake Land College sophomore Libero, Rachel Schultz (Stewardson, St. Anthony High School) continues to prove herself as part of an elite national class, her digging skills moving her up to Top-10 status in the NJCAA Division I Volleyball National Rankings for individual players in two different categories.

In Lakerball's last report of Lady Lakers volleyball players of national note, Schultz had gained Top-20 status. Yet even after missing  a recent match, she has moved up the rankings in total digs, now at 518 for the season, a mark now ranking Schultz at 7th in the nation.

The national ranking of 7th is the highest of any Lady Lakers this season.

The missed match would not have necessarily hurt her digs per set average, now at 5.57, a mark breaking the Top 10, earning Schultz a ranking of 9th in the nation.

Teammate, defensive specialist, sophomore, Rachel Mullen (St. Joseph, St. Joseph-Ogden High School), who at last report was in the nation's Top-100 in digs, has leaped up the rankings after a four-match tourney in Missouri where she added 51 digs to her tally, now standing at 313 for the season. Mullen has rocketed up the rankings of the Top-100, now up to 62nd in the nation.

Sophomore, Maria Brasel (Kinmundy, South Central High School), remains in the nation's Top-100 for serving skills, a 42nd ranking in total service aces with 33, while her 0.35 service aces per set finds her at exactly 100th.

Brasel continues to rank high in assists, her seasonal total now 535, earning her a ranking of 42nd in the nation. With 5.63 assists per set, Brasel now ranks 71st.

Freshman, Ryann Ambrose (Shelbyville, Shelbyville High School) lost a Top-100 ranking in total kills, but continues to claim a firm hold on high rankings with a hitting percentage of .319, ranking 37th, and block solos, her 33 on the season earning her a national ranking of 22nd. Ambrose ranks 80th in the country in total points with 266.5.

Sophomore, Nathayla de Souza (Sau Paulo, Brazil) yet again stakes claims of four rankings in the Top-50. De Souza's best national ranking continues to be in kills, her 313 on the season ranking her 21st in the nation, moving her up six ranking positions from 27th. De Souza also moved up a notch in kills per set at 3.29, now ranking 35th.

Now with 21 block solos, de Souza moves up from 86th to 71st.

De Souza slipped slightly in points per set, her 3.8 up a tenth, but her ranking down two slots, to 43rd, still considerably high in the nation.

Adding close to 50 more points to her seasonal total since the last report, de Souza now boasts a tally of 357.0 points for the season, her national ranking trending higher by eight ranking positions, now a significant 23rd in the nation.
